Exterior Basement Waterproofing

Interior Basement Waterproofing Systems

Exterior basement waterproofing is true waterproofing in that it stops water from entering your foundation from the outside.  If you have wet basement walls up high or at ground level, and/or signs of water running down basement walls, exterior basement waterproofing may be the best solution.  The original seal on the exterior of your foundation deteriorates over time resulting in chronic paint bubbling, wet basement walls or chronically damp basement walls.  If you see these symptoms you should consider exterior basement waterproofing.

Our DETLA MS exterior basement waterproofing system utilizes the latest in technology taken from commercial applications.

Exterior Basement Waterproofing Systems

Our multi-step process starts with excavating the basement walls to the bottom of the footer to expose the entire foundation.  Next we clean the surfaces for a thorough inspection to look for weak points and cracks. We then repair the basement foundation cracks and weak points before applying a full seal coating to your basement walls.   The “icing on the cake” is the unique dimpled air gap basement waterproofing membrane that is bonded to your foundation walls.  The result is a guaranteed dry foundation wall.  We then install new PVC footer drains with gravel.  Afterward, the soil is put back with a nice positive grade away from the foundation walls.

When to Consider Other Options

In some cases an exterior basement waterproofing system may not solve the problem.  Ground water can rise up from underneath the basement floor in some cases causing seepage into the basement. In these cases, installing new drainage outside may not stop the leak.  Signs of this type of problem are floor cracks or seams that leak.  Floor cracks that are heaved or covered in white powder can also be an indication of ground water rising from under the floor.  If your basement walls are mostly dry or show signs of dampness in lower areas only, exterior waterproofing may not be the best option.

Look For Contractors That Install All Methods

At Pioneer Basement Solutions, we thoroughly evaluate your specific basement issues and review all options with you. In conclusion, you are able to make an informed decision.  Beware of contractors who only sell specific basement systems.  Some only install exterior basement waterproofing and will take the position that interior systems are a band aid.  Other contractors only install interior solutions and tell customers excavating the basement on the outside can cause serious damage.  Contractors that take a “one size fits all” approach can lead you to not solving your problem.  As a result you may end up spending more money than necessary.
